Thunder Ready To Boom Again

By Stuart Turner

John Iwanyk scored a treble at Mandurah last Saturday night and looks a strong chance to score more success at this Saturday night’s meeting.

The Nambeelup trainer has seven greyhounds in action, including Thunder Rama in the TABtouch Multi Formula Open Masters (race 11, 490m).

This is a 113th start for Thunder Rama, whose record stands at 28 wins and 47 minor placings.

He is still racing well, having scored three placings in his last four starts, and has also placed in his last three starts from this box draw.

Thunder Rama has been facing some of WA’s toughest opposition this week so looks the best here.

Iwanyk’s other greyhounds all look to have drawn tough but keep an eye on Uncle Si in the  D & L Electrical Stakes (race nine, 490m).

Another veteran with 80 races under his belt, Uncle Si (box four) ran a sound placing last week over the 490m in 27.90.

He has scored one win and nine minor placings from 15 previous starts from this box and looks a decent value chance, although Oldmate Archie (box three) was a super winner last week in 27.62 and could take some stopping.

Wagtail Natalee scored a second win in three starts for Iwanyk over the 405m last week and is a decent chance in race 10.

She has box three this week, from which she won on debut last month and with a best of 23.21 looks a match for these.

In other Mandurah Saturday action, Nero">Nero Bolt looks a decent value chance to take out the Mandurah Stockfeeds Stakes (race five, 490m).

Last year’s Group 1 Sprint Championship finalist (box two) has his work cut out in a strong field but  been running solidly recently and has scored three wins and four placings from nine previous starts.

There is plenty of early pace here with the likes of Astronomize (box three) but if Nero Bolt gets out okay, he can lead them home.

Runaway Earner produced one of the best performances of his career last Thursday at Mandurah and looks well set to triumph in race six (490m).

Christine Robartson’s greyhound (box two) scored a super 27.79 win on his last start and although this is a tougher assignment, he is formidable from the inside boxes and looks to be back on form after an eight-month break.

Red Hot Reagan (box one) is in good form and looks capable of saluting race seven.

Enzo Crudeli’s greyhound has won two of his last three and ran well last week to finish narrowly behind Baracca Keeping in a smart 22.72.
