Dyna Maddie will be the likely favourite for Saturday's Group 1 National Futurity after setting the fastest heat time at Wentworth Park.
The Andrea Dailly-trained greyhound landed a massive old-fashioned betting plunge when she won her heat in 29.70s, recording a near record run home time of 11.51 in the process.
Dyna Maddie was backed on TAB Fixed Odds from $12 to $3.80 and after being third at the first turn railed to the lead at the halfway mark before winning by eight lengths.
Her chances of claiming her first Group 1 victory were boosted after she drew box three for the National Futurity final.
Also benefiting from the box draw was Natahli Dedee who took 30.16 to defeat Mitcharlie Mia.
Natahli Dedee had box four in her heat but gained the coveted rails box for the final.
Slowest qualifier CASH In Motion will have plenty of admirers despite her poor heat time of 30.44.
CASH In Motion's win was remarkable as she was last at the first turn and was badly hampered in the middle stages.
"CASH In Motion's mother Teddy's Jackpot passed away recently, aged 12, so it would be wonderful for her daughter to add the Futurity to her win in the Ipswich Cup late last year," her Northern Rivers based trainer Bob Cooke, who bred the greyhound, said.
