Quartz Bale Looking Sharp Again

By Stuart Turner

Quartz Bale continues his return from a long injury layoff this weekend, lining up in a 405m event at Mandurah on Saturday night.

The Perth Cup placegetter made his first start in seven months last Friday night following a hock injury, comfortably winning a 405m at Mandurah event in 22.43.

Quartz Bale returns to the Perth track where he will jump from box seven in a free for all event which will once again be over the 405m (race seven).

He has won two of his three previous starts from box seven and this looks an ideal chance for him to salute again, with his trainer Paul Stuart no doubt hoping his greyhound can be competitive at Group level once again.

Kennelmate Tureaud (box two) was close to his brilliant best scoring a 27.33 win over the 490m at Mandurah last week and looks the best bet in race four.

He has won four of his last five starts and is usually devastating from an inside draw, having won three of his four starts with the checks.

Crashing Packs was narrowly beaten in the recent Group 3 Birthday Cup but looks ideally drawn to go one better in race five.

Max Julien’s greyhound is in red hot form and has won five of his previous starts from box eight.

Donald Tux (box eight) is resuming after two months out but can score a win in race 10.

He was way off the pace in his last race but had a good win on his debut at Mandurah and if in full fitness can win this.

Sugaque (box eight) has won her first two starts and can make it a hat-trick in race 12.

She scored a smart 17.49 win on her last start from the same box and although moving up in distance here looks the best.

Best value chance for the evening looks King Debello, who has box two in the sixth race over 490m.

Lovely Banks looks ideally drawn in box one but King Debello placed in a strong race over the 490m at Mandurah last week and has won once and placed twice with the checks.
