GRNSW Announces Penalty Against Mark Taylor

By GRNSW

On 14 September 2015, Greyhound Racing NSW (GRNSW) advised that it had received confirmation of the presence of the prohibited meloxicam in a sample taken from the greyhound Fishaholic after it won race 6 at Tamworth on 6 December 2014.

On 19 January 2016, trainer Mark Taylor pleaded guilty to two offences under Rule 86 (d) and one under Rule 86 (m) of the GRNSW Greyhound Racing Rules, in relation to the inquiry.

After affording Mr Taylor an opportunity to make submissions on the penalty to be imposed as a result of the offences, GRNSW Stewards determined that the following penalty be imposed:

• A period of disqualification of three months (two counts) commencing 19 January 2016, to be served concurrently with respect to the two breaches of Rule 86 (d);

• A period of disqualification of three months commencing 19 April 2016, with respect to the two breaches of Rule 86 (m);

A copy of the decision of GRNSW about the penalty imposed can be found here.

Mr Taylor has been notified of his rights of appeal.
