Fantastic Duo Headline Futurity Heats

By Stuart Turner

Explosive pup Fantastic Dotty, Group 2 Laurels Classic winner Fantastic Skye and recent Group 2 Gosford Cup placegetter Cash in Motion and are among the headline contenders for this Saturday’s Group 1 National Futurity (520m) heats.

Five competitive heats of the $75,000-to-the-winner series, which is open to female greyhounds whelped on or after July 1, 2013, will take place at Wentworth Park,

Fantastic Dotty, who became an overnight sensation when she broke the Dapto track record twice in consecutive weeks en route to winning the Group 3 Dapto Maiden Classic in August, will jump from box five in the third heat of the night.

She returned from almost three months out with a fourth place at Wentworth Park last Saturday night and will surely be better for that run.

Littermate Fantastic Skye (box one, heat one) has been racing well in Victoria for Kel Greenough, including that superb victory in last month’s Laurels Classic at Sandown Park.

Now back in Jason Fletcher's kennel, she has won two of her three previous races at Wentworth Park and looks a good chance for this series.

NSW Northern Rivers star Cash In Motion (box five, heat four) followed up her victory in November’s Group 3 Ipswich Gold Cup with a strong performance in the Gosford Cup series, winning her heat and finishing third in the final.

She finished sixth on her only previous visit to Wentworth Park and is much better drawn inside, but still must be considered a strong chance to qualify for the National Futurity final.

Gawker Bale (box five, heat two), looks the strongest contender from the gun Andrea Dailly kennel.

Gawker Bale has won three of her four starts so far, including a flying 25.42 victory over the 450m at Ballarat last month.

Meanwhile, Cardiology (box eight, heat five) is shaping as the best roughie chance for the series.

She has won four and placed four times on her nine starts so far, including a fine 29.75 triumph from the same box at Wentworth Park earlier this month.
