Pine Tree Ready To Bloom At Gosford

By Stuart Turner

Swan Bay trainer Lisa Lamb believes Pine Tree can win the battle between two of NSW’s most in-form greyhounds at Gosford this evening.

Pine Tree jumps from box six in the Tonkin Drysdale and Partners Stakes (400m, race 10), in which she is aiming for a sixth consecutive victory.

Among the opposition is in-form greyhound Taipan Tracey (box five), who scored a fifth victory from six starts at Richmond on December 16.

Pine Tree travels to Gosford on the quick back-up following her latest win at the track last Friday and although this is her first start from box six, owner-trainer Lamb is confident of another success.

“This is a tough race but I think she can win,” Lamb said.

“She keeps jumping in front and is racing very well at the moment. She was a bit green on her second run but since then she has been jumping well and posting some consistent times.

“If she gets out clear then she will be hard to stop.”

Pine Tree held off a valiant Bralyn Archer to win in a smart 23.36 to score her latest triumph.

The daughter of Kelsos Lorenzo and Little Tree Hill has won six of her eight starts so far, including a smart 23.03 success at Gosford on January 9.

She has saluted on all three visits to Gosford so far and has victories at Unibet Gardens and Maitland under her belt.

“I think she will go the 500 metres eventually but for now I will keep her over the 400 metres if she’s winning,” Lamb said.

“I will probably give her another run over the 400 metres at Richmond this Saturday.

“Hopefully she will keep improving and winning.”

In other Gosford action tonight, Your Shout Punk (box six) looks a good chance to salute in the night’s opening race.

He has scored three wins and three minor placings from his seven previous visits to the track and is in great form, with three triumphs from his last four starts.

Hot newcomer Lochinvar Kors (box four) faces a strong field in race seven but is coming off an exceptional 29.88 win at Gosford last Friday and can salute again.

His kennelmate Lochinvar Holly (box seven) also looks a decent chance of returning to winning ways in race eight.

She finished sixth from the same box over the 400m at Gosford last Friday but prior to that had been racing solidly at Wentworth Park.

Trainer Robert Smith has enjoyed plenty of success recently and Lochinvar Holly can handle the wide draw in this company.
