Greyhound Racing NSW (GRNSW) advises that it has received notification from the Australian Racing Forensic Laboratory of the presence of Caffeine & Metabolites in the sample taken from Nigel Ignite after it won race 2 at the MUDGEE meeting on 25 October 2015.
The reserve portion of the sample was sent to Racing Science Centre (QLD) and has yet to be confirmed to contain the prohibited substance. Nigel Ignite's trainer John Bowman has been advised of the irregularity.
As the prohibited substance detected is a Category 4 substance under the GRNSW’s penalty guidelines the matter will be dealt with having regard to the protocols established under the guidelines.
