Wentworth Park Inquiry Adjourned

Greyhound Racing NSW (GRNSW) today commenced a hearing as part of an inquiry into an incident that occurred in race 5 at Wentworth Park on Saturday, 26 December 2015.

The inquiry was opened after GRNSW Stewards, acting under Gar 64 (1), disqualified the winning greyhound Il Bacaro (8), trained by Anthony Azzopardi. The greyhound was disqualified after it was detected through the post-race identification process that the incorrect greyhound contested the race. The greyhound which incorrectly competed in the race was Asa Killa Queen, trained by Anthony Azzopardi.

During today’s hearing, evidence was given by Mr Azzopardi, his employees Norman Sheppard and Robert Stojanov, Wentworth Park employees Andrew Rowe and Steve Athanassas as well as GRNSW Steward Greg Hore

GRNSW Stewards adjourned the inquiry to consider the evidence tendered during today’s hearing and determine whether any charges will be laid under the GRNSW Greyhound Racing Rules.

GRNSW will provide further details about the inquiry in due course.
