GRNSW Hearing Into Wentworth Park Incident

By GRNSW

Greyhound Racing NSW will stage a hearing on Tuesday, 12 January 2016 as part of an inquiry into an incident that occurred in race 5 at Wentworth Park on Saturday, 26 December 2015.

The inquiry was opened after GRNSW Stewards, acting under Gar 64 (1), disqualified the winning greyhound Il Bacaro (8), trained by Anthony Azzopardi. The greyhound was disqualified after it was detected through the post-race identification process that the incorrect greyhound contested the race. The greyhound which incorrectly competed in the race was Asa Killa Queen, trained by Anthony Azzopardi.

The hearing will be held at 9am at the offices of GRNSW, Building B, 1 Homebush Bay Drive, Rhodes.

In addition to the hearing, GRNSW stewards have lifted the suspensions of Il Bacaro and Asa Killa Queen after receiving preliminary submissions from the parties involved in the inquiry, meaning both greyhounds are eligible to compete in any event.
