Ritza Rossi Can Atone At Wentworth Park

By Jeff Collerson

Ritza Rossi  ran a mighty race when third in last Sunday's Group 2 Woy Woy Poultry Supplies Gosford Gold Cup so should relish a huge drop in class when he contests Saturday night's fourth and fifth grade race seven (520m) at Wentworth Park.

Ritza Rossi was a fast finishing runner-up in a strong third and fourth grade race at his most recent Wemtworth Park outing on December 23 before having no luck behind CASH In Motion and Smart Missile in the fastest Gosford Cup heat.

"His run at Gosford was terrific because another dog prevented him getting a clear run,'' trainer Mark Gatt said. "I had the option of starting Ritza Rossi in a Gosford Cup Consolation on Friday but decided to head to Wenty because I knew he was eligible for a lower grade race there.

"He pulled up perfectly after Gosford so with a clear run from box four I expect him to go close to winning on Saturday night.''

Saturday's meeting features the first Wentworth Park appearance of boom provincial sprinter Cardiology">Cardiology, who has box four in the fifth grade fourth event.

Cardiology is a litter sister and kennelmate of Where Art Thou, who won in 30.02 on debut at the Sydney track in November.

"She is every bit as good as Where Art Thou - there has never been anything between them,'' trainer Kayla-Jane COLEMAN said. "Cardiology is beginning better now than earlier in her career and is super strong at the finish of her races.

"Because she is such a hard chaser she makes her own luck.''

COLEMAN could land a double as she has Where Are Thou (box three) and another of her team, Calypso Star (box two) in race 11, another fifth grade.

"Where Art Thou is going as well as when she won at Wentworth Park on November 18,'' COLEMAN said.

"Forger her last start sixth at Dapto because she got hammered in that race and then took a tumble in the catching pen.

"She took no harm from that mishap and to make sure I trialled her up the straight on Wednesday and she went well.

"Calypso Star is in form but he does tend to take a step or two to the right at the first turn, but I doubt he will cause Where Art Thou any problems in that regard.''

Minuscule has won only two 400m races at Bulli but trainer Jason Magri believes his aptly named little 26kg greyhound is in a "winnable'' fifth grade opening event.

"She will get the 520 metres at Wenty, but only just,'' Magri said. "Minuscule has to lead to win but I expect her to be in front at the first turn.

"In The Moonlight, who has box eight, has won in 30.07 at Wentworth Park so is the greyhound to beat. If she happens to lead Minuscule we can't beat her.''

Nymeria">Nymeria, unbeaten in two Wentworth Park races, resumes from a spell out of box two in race two, a fifth grade contest.

Although Nymeria has not started for a month trainer Ken Burnett is happy with her form.

"I gave Nymeria a post to post hand slip at Wenty last Saturday and she trialled well,'' Burnett said.

"If she doesn't get touched soon after the start she should clear her rivals by the first turn.

"She is well boxed near the rails and I expect her to give this race a shake, with Where's Ramsay, who has box one, looking the danger.''
