Brad Hill Billy Looks Unstoppable At Bathurst

By Stuart Turner

Group 2 winner Brad Hill Billy looks a strong chance to continue his successful step up to the middle distance ranks with victory at Bathurst this afternoon.

The winner of this year’s Group 2 Bob Payne Spring Sprint (pictured) jumps from box six in the Vine Ventures Tours Stayers Stakes (race seven, 618m).

The Ray Smith-trained greyhound has been a proven performer over sprints, competing against the best greyhounds in the country and producing some scintillating runs, including a sizzling 29.37 effort over the 520m at Wentworth Park in August.

Recently, however, Smith has changed tacts with Brad Hill Billy and aimed him for middle distance races. The change got off to a winning start with Brad Hill Billy scoring a decent 35.61 win over the 618m at Richmond last week and looks a good bet to make it back-to-back wins today.

In other action at Bathurst today, Tango’s Express can continue the strong run from Paul Braddon’s kennel with victory in the day’s feature race, the Vic Hotel Sprint Series (race five, 450m).

Tango’s Express jumps from box six, having scored three wins and two minor placings from his last eight starts and enjoys visiting Bathurst, with three previous wins at the track.

Braddon could score another triumph with Marbo’s Magic, who ran a sound second place on debut at Goulburn earlier this month and can score a maiden victory in race one over the 450m.

He had earlier trialled well at Goulburn and with this draw looks the top pick.

Talking Point has enjoyed a consistent 2015 for owner- trainer Mark Wicks and can win a quality-packed race six (450m) from box five.

He has won three of his last four starts and is unbeaten in two previous starts wearing the yellow rug.
