Spring Murder Aims To Conquer Bulli Again

By Stuart Turner

Spring Murder returns to one of his happiest hunting grounds at Bulli tonight, with owner-trainer Arrol Glynn confident he can return to his winning ways.

The consistent greyhound will jump from box five in the 5th grade Bulli Racing On New Year’s Day Stakes (race 8, 472m).

The race will be Spring Murder’s first attempt at the 472m at Bulli, having won four from eight starts over the 400m trip at the Illawarra track.

While Glynn would have preferred a wider draw for Spring Murder, he believes the greyhound is in with a good chance of victory this evening.

“If he gets the break on them, he’ll be hard to catch,” Glynn said.

“I would prefer him drawn out wide but he’s won from every box. When he jumps well, he is hard to stop.

“I am a little concerned about the distance but he loves the straight run at Bulli. If he gets out fine, I think he can win.”

Spring Murder has had his starts spread out in recent months having only had four starts since September, however, he comes into tonight’s event off a relatively quick back-up following a second placing at Richmond last Wednesday.

In other Bulli Friday action, hot pup Ultimate Magic (box three) looks the pick in race five over the 472m.

Ultimate Magic, mentored by gun trainer Anthony Azzopardi, has had two impressive starts so far and won in an impressive 25.20 over the 450m at Maitland in October.

Sonador Gold, meanwhile, has won his last two starts and can make it a hat-trick in race seven (472m).

The son of Where’s Pedro and Chasing Diana will jump from box two having built a decent record of four wins and eight minor placings from 14 starts for trainer Andrew Rowe and had an impressive 26.44 win over this trip last week.

Your Shout Punk has been unsuccessful on his last two starts but can bounce back in race nine.

He has previously run well in strong company at Bulli and from box three looks a big danger.

Titan Sprite (box five) won in a scorching 22.38 over the 400m at Bulli last month and looks the pick in race 10.
