On 4 August 2015, Greyhound Racing NSW (GRNSW) advised that it had received confirmation of the presence of the prohibited substance atenolol and O-desmethylvenlafaxine in a sample taken from Lorna Belle after it won the Peter Yore Heat at The Gardens meeting on 7 February 2015.
GRNSW also advised that Lorna Belle's trainer Ron Bell entered a plea of not guilty to a charge of presenting a greyhound other than free of a prohibited substance and in doing so elected to have the matter heard by an Inquiry before GRNSW Stewards.
Following an Inquiry, Mr Bell was found guilty of a charge for an offence under Rule 83 (2) (a).
After affording Mr Bell an opportunity to make submissions on the penalty or penalties to be applied as a result of the offences, Stewards have determined that the following penalties shall be imposed:
• $1000 fine
A copy of the Stewards’ decision can be found here.
Mr Bell has been notified of his appeal rights.
