Dyna Double One Heads To Hobart

By Stuart Turner

Dyna Double One will attempt to win a third Group 1 title in under a month when he contests the heats of the Group 1 Ubet Hobart Thousand (461m) on Thursday night.

The Andrea Dailly-trained greyhound jumps from box four in the sixth and final heat of the $75,000-to-the-winner series.

Dyna Double One has had a month to remember, winning the Group 1 Melbourne Cup on November 20 before travelling to Queensland and taking out the Group 1 Brisbane Cup at Albion Park last week.

He will now head to Tasmania for his first start at the Hobart track in the form of his career.

Other notable greyhounds set to compete in the Hobart Thousand heats include last year’s winner Above All (box three, heat three), who has endured an injury-hampered 12 months since his terrific victory 12 months ago.

Last Friday night’s Group 2 Energis Ballarat Cup winner Shared Equity (heat one), hot local Prescribe (heat three) and NSW star Fantastic Spiral (heat four) are also among the runner.

A decent series bolter could be Victorian To The Galo’s,  who ran a track record in the recent Goulburn Cup heats over the 440m before disappointing in the final.

He jumps from box three in heat five.

Fernando Bale is not among the nominations for the Hobart Thousand and is expected to take a short break after finishing fifth in the Group 2 Energis Ballarat Cup decider last Friday behind winner Shared Equity.

He is still scheduled to finish his career at January’s Group 1 Paws Of Thunder at Wentworth Park in January.

The final of the Ubet Hobart Thousand takes place next Thursday.
