Yunderup Dozer Aims To Demolish Opposition

By Stuart Turner

Yunderup Dozer underlined his improvement with a storming win last week and trainer Andrew MCLAREN believes his greyhound can repeat that display at Saturday’s Mandurah meeting.

The son of Cosmic Chief and Yunderup Miss, who triumphed superbly in last week’s $15,0000-to-the-winner WA Spring Gift, jumps from box two in heat four of the A1 Salvage and Hardware Anniversary Cup (race six, 490m).

Last week’s impressive 27.52 win made it four victories in his last five starts for the on-song greyhound.

Yunderup Dozer has scored two wins and a placing from three previous starts from box two and MCLAREN believes this draw could help his greyhound salute again.

“He got knocked around a bit which affected his confidence but he’s putting it all together now,” MCLAREN said.

Obviously, box draws are all important when you have a greyhound who can be a slow starter. He’s now getting those inside draws which are really helping him.”

Last week’s feature race win extended Yunderup Dozer’s career record to a solid 11 wins and six minor placings from 24 starts.

This year’s Group 2 WA Derby winner Fun Boss (box three) looks the biggest danger, but Lexia Isaac’s greyhound has been rather inconsistent of late.

“He has to beat Fun Boss out,” MCLAREN said. “Fun Boss can be quick out but has been a little rocky from the boxes recently.

“I can’t say mine is a flying machine out of the boxes sometimes but he is inside here which is important.

“If he gets out well he can win.”

Former NSW based greyhound Winsome Mission (box seven) looks a strong chance to record consecutive victories in race five (490m).

He registered a 27.51 win last week from box two and the shift wider this week should not be too problematic as he was won three of his seven starts wearing the black rug.

Before Too Long (box one) is building a super record for Chris Halse and can triumph again in race eight (490m).

The daughter of Collision and Sassy Guess has won eight of her 14 starts so far, including a super win from box one at Mandurah in 27.68 two starts back.

Veteran Expect A Guess (box one) looks capable of returning to winning ways in race 11 (647m).

Christine Robartson’s greyhound has been racing solidly without success recently but is very strong with the red rug and placed again from there two starts back.
