Sims Hoping For A Sweet Night At Bulli

By Stuart Turner

Little Bit Sweet has been “near faultless” for Peter Sims and the trainer believes his greyhound is line to score another victory at tonight’s Bulli meeting.

The daughter of Brett Lee and Surpassing aims for an eighth win in nine starts when she jumps from box seven in the 1300 Ladbrokes Sprint Series Final (race six, 400m).

She returns to the Illawarra track a week after a storming six-and-a-half-length victory in 22.60 last Friday and Sims is confident of a bold showing.

“This is her first start from box seven but she can win from anywhere,” he said.

“She’s been near faultless so far. Nothing fazes her and she knows her job.”

Sims has another runner in the final – Sheza Temptress – but believe Media Icon and Seismic Blast were the biggest dangers to Little Bit Sweet.

“Media Icon is impressive and Seismic Blast (box six) can get out quickly as well, so I’m certainly not over-confident, but Little Bit Sweet is at her best she’ll be hard to beat,” he said.

Sims is not as confident of the chances of another of his runners – Little Bit Slick – who will jump from box seven in a tough-looking race eight (400m).

Little Bit Slick was below-par while finishing fourth at Bulli last week and Sims is cautious about her chances this evening.

“I don’t know what happened last start,” he said.

“She didn’t come of the boxes, which is very unlike her. The main danger is Taipan Tracey in box one, who is coming back from a spell but has gone well here before.

“Again, the box isn’t a problem. It’s just whether she comes out okay.”

In other action at Bulli, Alfie Magic (box one), looks a strong contender to take out race five (472m).

Alfie Magic has won four of his seven starts so far, including a 22.42 win at Bulli two starts back.

He also won over the 400m at Richmond on his last start – albeit by three-quarters-of-a-length – and on current form should go close again.

Rosco The Weapon (box one) steps back up to the 472m in race two but looks a strong winning chance.

He ran 22.25 for the 400m at Bulli two weeks ago – just 0.05 outside the track record – to score his maiden win and looks the strongest in this race.
