GRNSW Announces Penalty Against Mark Gatt

By GRNSW

On 18 June 2015, Greyhound Racing NSW (GRNSW) advised that it had received confirmation of the presence of the prohibited substance propentofylline in a sample taken from the greyhound More In Store after it won race 10 at Wentworth Park on 25 April 2015.

GRNSW also advised that More In Store's trainer Mark Gatt had been given the opportunity to enter a plea of guilty to a charge of presenting a greyhound other than free of a prohibited substance in breach of the GRNSW Greyhound Racing Rules.

Mr Gatt has informed GRNSW that he has decided to enter a plea of guilty to the charge.

As a result, the Stewards have found Mr Gatt guilty of a charge of presenting More In Store other than free of a prohibited substance. The Stewards have determined that the following penalties should be imposed.

• $1500 fine.

A copy of the decision of GRNSW about the penalty imposed can be found here.

Despite entering a plea of guilty and accepting the penalty proposed by the Stewards, Mr Gatt has been notified of his rights of appeal.
