Nymeria Aiming To Reign At Bulli

By Stuart Turner

Nymeria will look to extend her near perfect record when she lines up in her biggest test to date at Bulli this evening.

The Ken Burnett-trained greyhound makes her Bulli debut  from box eight in a high-quality 5th grade heat of the GBOTA Wollongong Branch Sprint Series (race nine, 472m) aiming for a sixth win from seven career starts.

Nymeria’s record so far includes a 29.65 victory at Dapto two starts back and a 30.60 triumph at Wentworth Park last week.

The tough opposition tonight includes classy city winner Nangar Flame (box one) but Burnett is anticipating a big show from his greyhound.

“I’m expecting Nymeria to go pretty well,” he said. “She’s in sound condition and looking good.

“This is a different test for her. I think we’ll see how good she is tonight.

“Nangar Flame is a worry as he is suited to the inside and will rail up, but if she gets out cleanly she can punch up behind them.

“She had it tough at Wentworth Park but she got the win and I think she can go a bit better tonight.”

In other action at Bulli tonight, the scratching of boom pup Fantastic Dotty should leave the way forward for King Richard (box one), who is returning to NSW after spells racing across the country, to claim a high quality race eight.

Now in owner Scott Austen’s Box Hill kennel, King Richard, who is the brother of Hay Fergus, has won two of five previous visits to Bulli.

He ran a quick 26.28 at Bulli earlier this year and has not raced since October 22, so should be raring to go tonight.

“I’m expecting a big run from him tonight,” Austen said. “He’s looking sharp.

“He’s no Hay Fergus but he’s been running well and is capable of fast times himself.”

Titan Sprite (box three), who scored the quickest time in last week’s heats and looks the latest hot prospect for Mark Wilcox, is the on-top selection in the Ladbrokes Visa Card Maiden Final (race three, 400m).

He is from a promising Magic Sprite-Winsome Shiraz litter that also includes Sweetwater Boy, who faces King Richard tonight in race eight.

Sandave Prince (box four) has been a quality performer at Hunter tracks in recent months and can win race six on his Bulli debut.

The son of Miagi and Stately Sapphire has scored six wins and six minor placings from 15 starts so far and chased track record-breaker Magic Spring home hard on his last start.
