Fantastic Tail Buzzing Again

By Jeff Collerson

A bee sting has sidelined Fantastic Tail for a month but the Dapto 600m record holder is ready to win first-up at Wentworth Park on Saturday night.

Fantastic Tail has box four in heat one of the Evans & Son Jewellers Bitches' Series and despite her lack of recent racing is fit enough to win according to trainer Jason Fletcher.

''Since she finished down the course at The Meadows a month back she has had three trials and is going as well as ever,'' Fletcher said.

"Fantastic Tail won in 29.89 at Wentworth Park and then broke the Dapto 600m record by winning in 34.09 on September 11 so I took her to Melbourne for a 600m race at The Meadows.

"On the drive south I pulled up to give Fantastic Tail and her kennelmates some exercise and while we were stopped she must have copped the bee sting.

"She went awful in her race and it wasn't until later that I discovered she had been stung.

"Fantastic Tail should win on Saturday night as long as she comes through the first corner safely.

"She has box four and can only run 5.50 to the first mark so she will obviously need a reasonably clear run early to be sure of winning.''

Angry Thunder
, who has had a win and a second from two Wentworth Park starts, looks good value from box two in the Letariah's Legacy Night Stakes on Saturday.

"He needs the fence badly so the draw is suitable,'' trainer Ken Staines said.

"Angry Thunder is only a one pace type of dog but he gets to the line solidly at the end of 520m.

"Husvinu, who has box one, ran wide at the first turn when he won at Wentworth Park last week so my dog has to avoid him in the early stages.

"If he can do that Angry Thunder seems to be in the right type of race.''

NSW Central Coast trainer Tony Duggan returns to Wentworth Park with a strong chance of winning a double with Basque">Basque and Bluish.

Duggan also has Down Town Girl in box one in heat one of the Evans & Son Jewellers series, while Basque, who has had seven starts at the provincials for two wins and four seconds, has box one in the two of Evans & Son while Bluish has box two in heat four.

"Down Town Girl has drawn the wrong side of the track, but Basque and Bluish should run well.," Duggan said.

"They both have ability but Basque has more early speed and is a bit quicker.

The cleverly named Basque, a daughter of Where's Pedro, faces stern opposition from Tracey Hurst's fast beginner Good Odds Regina, who has box two and has won two of five Wentworth Park outings.

Bluish's opposition is not as strong and she goes into her race with two wins and two thirds from her past four appearances.

Chinese Whisper, desperately unlucky when second at her Wentworth Park 720m debut on October 28, stands out after drawing box one in the wentworthpark.com.au Stakes.

The Peter Rowe-trained greyhound was hampered while trying to cross to the rails from box eight before being runner-up to Blipple at Wentworth Park and has since won comfortably over 717m at Richmond after exiting box one.
