No Donuts Aiming For A Sweet Success At Bulli

By Stuart Turner

Record-breaking NSW star No Donuts makes his Bulli debut tonight Aiming to continue his recent devastating form.

Brad Canty’s (box three) greyhound ran a brilliant 31.41 to set a 565m track record at Maitland on his last start and extend his record to 12 wins and 11 minor placings from 28 starts.

He jumps from box three in the Ladbrokes Monthly Medal Stakes (race six, 590m) as he continues his impressive transition to the middle distance ranks.

Box three has never been overly kind to the son of Fabregas and Chevy Princess but he has scored four placings from four starts with the white rug.

Meanwhile, much-touted  Kihael Kaluna (pictured) jumps from box three in the Aus-Pump Concrete Best 8 Stakes (race four, 472m) fresh from his terrific 26.10 victory at Bulli last week.

The recent Group 1 Vic Peters Classic finalist, who was purchased for a reported $120,000 by the renowned Australian Bloodstock group, has scored five wins from nine starts so far and defeated a strong field here last week for his latest win.

Another eye-catching pup Aiming to impress is Carjack Arrest, who jumps from box six in the Bulli Tuesday-Thursday Trials Stakes (400m, race nine).

The daughter of Nitro Burst and Flying Liddy won her first three starts – all at Bulli – but has been out of luck on her two subsequent outings over the 472m and 450m elsewhere.

She is back at 400m here and trainer Christine Proctor is confident her greyhound can return to winning ways.

“She’s pretty fresh and looking ready to fly again,” Proctor said.

“She was in tough field at Maitland, which made it hard for her. This should be a little better.

“She has shown good speed so far over the 400 metres, so even with this tough draw she can win.”

Proctor is also expecting improvement from kennelmate She Knows Fabio, who jumps from box three in race five (400m).

The daughter of Bye Bye Bucks and Flamenco has gone winless in five starts but has won all three of her 400m races at Bulli.

“She’s not overly strong over the 450m, so this should suit her,” Proctor said. “She should be able to lift from box three as well.

“Both these fields are handy but not overly strong, so I’d give them both a decent chance of winning.”

Proctor also said her kennel star Bessy Boo being aimed for a possible crack at the Group 1 Brisbane Cup heats on November 26.

Last year’s Group 1 Peter Mosman winner, who has earned more than $260,000 prize money, scored victory number 31 on his 100th start at Wentworth Park last Wednesday night.

Za Zing looks a promising newcomer from Jason Magri’s kennel and can salute in race three (400m).
