GRNSW Announces Penalty Against Joanne Willis

By GRNSW

On 18 March 2015, Greyhound Racing New South Wales (GRNSW) advised that it had received confirmation of the presence of the prohibited substance O-desmethylvenlafaxine in a sample taken from the greyhound Platinum Magic after it won race 1 at Kempsey on 31 January 2015.

GRNSW also advised that Platinum Magic's trainer Joanne Willis had been given the opportunity to enter a plea of guilty to a charge of presenting a greyhound other than free of a prohibited substance in breach of the GRNSW Greyhound Racing Rules.

Ms Willis informed GRNSW that she has decided to enter a plea of guilty to the charge.

As a result, GRNSW Stewards have accepted Ms Willis' guilty plea to a charge of presenting Platinum Magic other than free of a prohibited substance. GRNSW Stewards have determined that the following penalty should be imposed:

• 20 week disqualification of Ms Willis' license

A copy of the decision of GRNSW about the penalty imposed can be found here.

Ms Willis has been notified of her rights of appeal.
