Erenshaw Keeping Les Safe For Mandurah

By thedogs.com.au

Terry Erenshaw heads to Mandurah on Saturday night  full of confidence, with the South Perth trainer rugging up six winning chances on the 12-race program.

Erenshaw, who trains out of Canning Vale, rates Les Keeping in race 12 as his best chance on Saturday night.

Les Keeping will jump from box four in the 405m event in which he will be aiming for his fifth career win at his 10th start.

“He’s had some injuries unfortunately but he’s got a fair bit of ability,” Erenshaw said.

“I’m fairly sure that once he gets some travelling and races under his belt he will show he’s handy. Even with this draw I would expect a good race from him here.”

Erenshaw also has Oldmate Archie, who jumps from box seven in a 490m event (race five).

Oldmate Archie started his career in the NSW Central West before transferring to Western Australia earlier this year after five winless starts.

The change of location has done Oldmate Archie a world of good, with the greyhound registering five wins from 12 starts.

“He’s doing well,” Erenshaw said.

“I think he has benefited from less travelling over here. He was based in Dubbo before and it was difficult for him to stay fresh.

“For me, that’s a big factor for greyhounds in NSW and Victoria to a lesser extent.

“I think from this draw he falls into the ‘each-way’ category but he’s certainly in the race.”

Other runners at Mandurah on Saturday night for Erenshaw are Baron Impact (race one, box one), Bob Keeping (race two, box six), Classified Boy (race three, box one) and Venus Fly High (race nine, box two).

It is a strong card at Mandurah with last week’s Group 2 All Stars Sprint runner-up Mike The Knight backing up in race four.

ROY Clarke’s greyhound has scored two wins and two minor placings in his last five starts and will jump from box eight.

Another finalist in last week’s Group 2 All Stars Sprint, Tiggerlong Await (box eight), looks the night’s best bet in race seven.

Tiggerlong Await has scored one win and three minor placings from six starts and gun trainer Paul Stuart

Best value chance for the evening is Silver Pierre (box four) in the night’s third race.

He has not won in his last nine starts but has run consecutive placings over the 490m at Mandurah and seems to be running into form again.
