Marluca Aiming For Marvellous Win

By Stuart Turner

Mick Zammit rates Marluca as the best of his two hopes in Thursday night’s Molly Campbell Silver Dollars (520m) at Albion Park.

Zammit and wife Selena have Marluca (box three) and Alpha Theseus (box one) jumping in the $9,835-to-the-winner final, with both looking like winning chances.

Alpha Theseus ran a strong 29.99 at Albion Paqrk last week and has scored three wins in four visits to the Brisbane track, while Marluca is unbeaten from two starts from this draw and has a best of 29.97 at Albion Park.

Zammit believes CASH In Motion (box two, trained by Robert Cooke) is the biggest threat to one of his greyhound’s collecting the winner’s cheque.

“There’s certainly not much between Alpha Theseaus and Marluca, but the main problem is CASH In Motion,” Zammit said.

“She is going so well right now. Alpha Theseus has run some good races at Albion Park is probably drawn on the wrong side of the track. I’d have preferred him wider.

Marluca ran a nice race here last week. She has had some ordinary draws but seems to be regaining her confidence.

“I would say there’s little between all three in terms of ability, but I would be leaning towards CASH In Motion.”

CASH In Motion has been an impressive performer for Cooke, scoring 10 wins and four minor placings from 21 starts, including a 29.85 win at Albion Park last week.

The daughter of Smooth Fancy and Teddy’s Jackpot has also won in her only previous start from box two.

In other action at Albion Park, Anti Dentite (box three) looks a strong chance to continue his great recent form in the night’s 10th race (520m).

The son of Turanza Bale and Sister Ping has scored four consecutive victories, including a 30.09 effort at Albion Park earlier this month.

Youi (box two) is another in-form greyhound who looks capable of triumphing again in race six (520m).

The son of Collision and Go Wild Caza has won three of his last four starts, including a terrific 29.95 run at Albion Park last week.

This year’s Group 1 Winter Cup winner Fabulous Storm (box one) can return to winning ways with victory in race eight (520m).

He has not won in seven starts but just missed out on a placing in last week’s Group 2 Lismore Cup and has scored one win and a placing from three previous starts wearing the red rug.
