GRNSW Announces Penalty Against Subawa Ngurah

By GRNSW

On 9 September 2015, Greyhound Racing New South Wales (GRNSW) advised that it had received confirmation of the presence of the prohibited substance atenolol in a sample taken from the greyhound Sovereign Queen after it won race 1 at Bulli on 18 February 2015.

On 9 September 2015, GRNSW also advised that it had received confirmation of the presence of the prohibited substance atenolol in a sample taken from the greyhound Celestial Prince after it won race 1 at Goulburn on 10 March 2015.

GRNSW also advised that the trainer of Sovereign Queen and Celestial Prince Subawa Ngurah had been given the opportunity to enter a plea of guilty to two charges of presenting a greyhound other than free of a prohibited substance in breach of the GRNSW Greyhound Racing Rules.

Mr Ngurah informed GRNSW that he has decided to enter a plea of guilty to both charges.

As a result, GRNSW Stewards have accepted Mr Ngurah's guilty plea to a charge of presenting Sovereign Queen and Celestial Prince other than free of a prohibited substance. GRNSW Stewards have determined that the following penalty should be imposed:

• $2000 fine

A copy of the decision of GRNSW about the penalty imposed can be found here.

Mr Ngurah has been notified of her rights of appeal.
