Group 2 Lismore Workers Club Cup winner Kingsbrae Nelly will be on the quick back-up with the Toni Northfield-trained greyhound set to return to the races at Ladbrokes Park Lismore on Tuesday night.

Kingsbrae Nelly will compete in the fourth/fifth grade Ladbrokes Bet Anywhere Stakes (420m, race five) fresh from her victory in Cup on Friday night.

The greyhound will jump from box two, the same draw in which she began so brilliantly from in the Cup.

In that race, Kingsbrae Nelly led all the way to defeat the quality field by two-and-a-half-lengths in a time of 30.01 and secure a first Group title for Toni Northfield as a trainer.

Northfield said Kingsbrae Nelly pulled up well from Friday night’s race, and expected a bold showing on Tuesday. If she can win on Tuesday, it will be the fifth win in a row for Kingsbrae Nelly.

“She doesn’t know she’s won such a big race and she looks ready to go again. She seems to really enjoy Lismore at the moment so we’ll see how she goes,” Northfield said.

“I didn’t expect her to win (the Cup) so dominantly, but when she went past the 600m boxes, I knew that’s when no-one would catch her.

“On the Friday morning she was a making a real racket in her kennels. She must have known something big was happening.

After the way she ran on Friday night she can make as much noise as she wants now.”

It was a memorable night for Northfield, who is part of the renowned Northern Rivers racing clan including her husband and fellow trainer Charlie.

“We had plenty of our friends and family around us, so it was an emotional evening,” she said.

“It was definitely a big weekend for us as it was Charlie's mother’s birthday yesterday," she said. "I took the trophy down to show all the family there.

“Greyhounds are our lives really – we love them so much. It just makes all the long hours and early mornings worthwhile when you win a race like this.”

In other action at Lismore on Tuesday night, Azariah (race four) and Ilika (race seven) both look ideally drawn in box one to win their respective races.

Mullaway (box eight) has won all four of her previous races at Lismore over the 635m and can make it five  in race six.
