Big Tee Rex On The Prowl

By Stuart Turner

Impressive heat winner Big Tee Rex looks to have drawn well while star duo Blazin’ Bomber and No Donuts will clash in Saturday’s exciting Group 1 Ladbrokes Vic Peters Classic (520m) semi-finals at Wentworth Park.

Big Tee Rex (pictured winning his heat) jumps from box two in the first semi-final at Wentworth Park fresh from his best of night  29.79 run in last Saturday night’s heats.

Troy Macdonald’s greyhound has won four of his last five starts and ran 29.97 from the same draw at Wentworth Park last month.

Good Odds Ocker, who scored his fifth consecutive victory in his heat last weekend, jumps from box six in the same heat as Big Tee Rex in what is shaping up to be a terrific duel.

Kihael Kaluna, meanwhile, who bounced back to form with a 29.83 in his heat, jumps from box three in the second semi-final.

Mark Gatt’s greyhound scored his first win since March of this year and if he can repeat the performance of last week looks the one to beat.

One big danger to Kihael Kaluna could be the Anthony Azzopardi-trained Zambora Brockie, who gets a run courtesy of Full Of Wind’s scratching.

Zambora Brockie only finished fifth in his heat after missing the start but chased home hard and was less than three lengths behind winner Good Odds Ocker.

He ran 29.66 at Wentworth Park two starts ago and won one of his two previous starts from box five at Bulli last month.

Victorian Blazin’ Bomber (box two) ran 30.13 while finishing second on his first look at Wentworth Park last Saturday night and with that run under his belt looks the pick in the third semi-final.

Blazin’ Bomber has two wins from two starts with the checks and an imposing record of 11 wins and four minor placings from 15 starts.

Standing in Blazin Bomber’s way is No Donuts (box four) who has returned to top form since returning from a spell in Victoria, scoring two wins from two starts.

No Donuts won from the same draw last Saturday night in 30.01 and although this is a harder field, he will surely be in contention.

In the fourth and final semi final, it is hard to go past Black Bear Lee (box four) after his terrific win last Saturday night.

This year’s Group 3 Magic Maiden winner has one win and two starts wearing the blue rug and ran his best time at Wentworth Park (29.69) from this draw.

The first of the semi-finals gets underway at 8.28pm (ADST) and is part of a terrific night’s action at Wentworth Park.
