Clayton and Brown Aiming To Establish Supremacy

By Jeff Collerson

Two trainers, Neville Brown and Michael Clayton, can enjoy plenty of success at Wentworth Park on Wednesday night.

Catherine Fields trainer Brown has three strongly fancied runners in Lois The Weapon (ladbrokes.com.au No Cat A Win, race two), Goody Two Shoes (ladbrokes.com.au No Cat A Win, race three) and Serena Nimbus (AAA Radiator Specialists Stakes, race seven).

Lois The Weapon and Goody Two Shoes, who have strong provincial form, have not raced at Wentworth Park but Brown said the duo have trialled at the track.

Clayton, from Sutton Forest, will rug up two favourites, Establish (Adopt A Greyhound Stakes, race 10) and She's A Meanie (gapnsw.com.au Stakes, race 11),  along with  Go Ginger Go (Rapidvite Stakes, race 5) and Buenos Aires (ladbrokes.com.au Stakes, race 9).

"They have not been there for a long while but as youngsters they each had post-to-post slips at Wenty,'' Brown said.

"Lois The Weapon is the better race dog but Goody Two Shoes has a stack of ability.

"Goody Two Shoes' win at Nowra two runs back was terrific but I was disappointed with her last start second at Dapto.

"Serena Nimbus has one of the biggest motors of any stayer I have trained - and I've had some handy ones - but she seems to check herself in running sometimes. She has been frustrating to train.

"One night though, she will land on the bunny and run the hands off the clock.''

Clayton is especially keen on the chances of She's A Meanie, making her Wentworth Park debut in a 280m event.

"She led and got run down over 400m at Gosford on October 6 but that is a hard short course run," clayton said.  "The 280m at Wenty is a lot better for her.

"She's A Meanie is well drawn in box eight and is very quick early.

"When she is on song she is a lid-pinger and has not put a foot wrong at the start in her recent races."

Clayton believes Establish should have the edge over kennelmate Cosmic Skittle in race 10.

"Establish is quicker than Cosmic Skittle," he said.

"While Establish will need a bit of luck early, she absolutely flew in a trial I gave her at Goulburn since she won first up over 280m at Wentworth Park on September 9.

"Establish was sidelined for nearly four months through coming in season and I am building her back up to 520 metres.

"One thing's for sure - if she gets to the front early like she did in her most recent win here they won't catch her.

"Go Ginger Go won over 400m at Gosford at her latest start when she clocked very quick splits.

"She is better suited by the straight run to the first turn at Wentworth Park but could be found wanting a little in the run home."

Prince Omar has been costly to favourite backers but the Mark Gatt-trained dog gets his chance in Wednesday night's first Ladbrokes heat.

He has been placed in six of seven Wentworth Park starts and got well under the 30-second mark in a trial at the track when he was still a maiden.

Miss Britt was badly checked at the first turn before finishing third at Wentworth Park last Wednesday and only needs a clear run to be a good value bet in the ladbrokes.com.au Stakes.
