A Sweet Night In Store At Bulli?

By Stuart Turner

Peter Sims believes his exciting greyhound Little Bit Sweet can maintain her unbeaten record at Bulli tonight.

The impressive daughter of Brett Lee and Surpassing jumps from box four in the fourth heat of the Ladbrokes Bet Better Stakes (472m, racing nine) aiming for a fourth consecutive victory.

Little Bit Sweet’s hat-trick of wins to date includes a 22.97 triumph over the 400m last Friday at her home Wagga track – just 0.23 outside Dana Mosso’s track record.

Sims is aiming his newcomer for the city and thinks she can win again tonight.

“She should be right here,” Sims said. “I’d obviously rather have an inside box, but she’s trialled well here and should handle this.

“I’m not surprised with her progress as she broke in well.   She’s still learning but she’s putting her best foot forward.

“She’ll run 500 metres but I will build her up slowly for now.”

Little Bit Sweet is among a promising litter also including Expressive and Pass Lee, who have already won a combined seven races so far in their short career for trainer Craig Chappelow.

Her kennelmate Little Bit Slick (box six) goes for an eighth win in 17 races in race eight, but Sims admitted he is not confident about her chances.

The daughter of Head Bound and Little Bit Fancy scored a good 22.77 win earlier this year but finished fifth at her last start at Wagga.

“This is tough for her,” Sims said.

“She’s run 18.06 over the 320m at Wagga and won twice at Wentworth Park, but she’s not quite 100 per cent right now. I think the greyhound in box three (Cosmic Break) is my pick here.”

Another Sims-trained greyhound, Flippant (box seven), looks a decent chance to salute in race two.

The son of Premier Fantasy and Wonderous has won once and placed twice in his four starts so far.

“He’s a very fast greyhound, but he’s proving a bit of a slow learner,” Sims said.

“I’m sure he’s got the ability. It’s just a matter of him putting it together.”

In other action, eye-catching newcomer Carjack Arrest (box four) goes for a third straight victory in race three over the 472m.

The Christine Proctor-trained daughter of Nitro Burst and Flying Liddy was a terrific 22.47 winner here from box five over the 400m last Friday night.

Screen Legend (box two) disappointed here last start after bombing the start but can atone with victory in ace four.

The John Buttsworth-trained son of Bit Chili and Sad Movies has had one win and two minor placings from his five starts so far, including a 26.49 effort here last month.
