Fernando Bale Makes History

By Stuart Turner

Fernando Bale has made history by becoming the first ever greyhound to break the $1m prize money mark.

The superstar Victorian achieved the landmark milestone by taking out Friday night's $75,000-to-the-winner Group 1 Classic Triple M Adelaide Cup (515m) in typically sensational style.

Jumping from box six at Angle Park, he zoomed home by more than eight lengths in a brilliant 29.20 - 0.32 outside Brett Lee's 2001 track record.

The win was Fernando Bale's 10th Group title and extended his prize money earnings to an incredible $1,006,110.

His record now stands at 31 wins and four minor placings from 38 starts.

Fernando Bale is expected to next be in action in the Group 1 Topgun on Saturday, October 24.
