Success Could Be Sweet For Honey Twist

By Jeff Collerson

Honey Twist appeals as the value bet of tonight's terrific meeting at Wentworth Park night despite drawing box four in the APL Poker Saturdays Stakes (520m, race four).

At her first start for new trainer Justin King, Honey Twist was second at the first turn but was 'chopped off' by pacemaker Aisle Tifi and lost all chance.

"Honey Twist had been trialling well before her first race for me on September 30," King said.  "I believe she only needs to get safely around the first turn here to be hard to beat.

"She has reasonable early pace but she is also very strong at the finish.''

Honey Twist scored a sound 29.91 triumph at Wentworth Park in August and also triumphed well at Dapto two starts back.

Prince Omar was desperately unlucky when third to Aqua Dragon at Wentworth Park on September 30 and will relish the move from box four to box one in Wednesday night's Spud Regis @ Stud Stakes.

But Daniel Gatt, whose brother Mark trains Prince Omar, warned that Wentworth Park newcomer Zambora Brockie (box two) would be a tough nut to crack.

"I thought Prince Omar's last start third at Wenty was a super run but I have a huge opinion of Zambora Brockie," Daniel Gatt said.

"Our dog will need to do every thing right to win.''

Become The Fuse, who has won his past three starts at Bulli and Dapto, makes his city debut from box eight in the wentworthpark.com.au Stakes.

Trainer Owen Langley revealed that Become The Fuse has had trial experience at Wentworth Park and said he did not think the dog's wide box would be a drawback.

"He will run straight from the boxes to the first corner and he has had a couple of looks at Wenty so he knows his way around the place,'' Langley said.

Last Saturday night's impressive Wentworth Park winner Spacecraft and Opus Forte, an unplaced favourite at the same meeting, will back up in Wednesday night's Ladbrokes Bet Better Free For All.

"Opus Forte disappointed me on Saturday after he misjudged the start but he is trialling as well as ever,'' trainer Luke Azzopardi said.

Spacecraft's trainer Lorraine Atchison said her dog, this year's Group 2 Maitland Cup winner, had taken no harm from his all-the-way win at his first start since returning after cracking a bone in a shoulder blade.

Let It Develop, another greyhound backing up from Saturday night, could tip them all out, though.

Anthony Azzopardi's greyhound had to work hard to lead from the first turn to the back straight on Saturday and despite jumping from fifth grade to free for all class can lead throughout at juicy odds.

Let It Develop had box one on Saturday but is much better suited by his box eight draw on Wednesday.
