Fantastic Pair Among Topgun Contenders

Recent Group winners Uno Suzie and Brad Hill Billy, star kennelmates Fantastic Spiral and Fantastic Dotty and evergreen Bessy Boo join the all-conquering Fernando Bale in contention for the forthcoming Group 1 Topgun (525m).

The six greyhounds are among a sparkling list of 21 invitees for the $150,000-to-the-winner race, which takes place at The Meadows on Saturday, October 24.

Anthony Azzopardi’s Uno Suzie, winner of the recent Group 2 Black Top and Group 3 Canberra Cup, heads the NSW challenge alongside last Saturday night’s Group 2 Bob Bay Spring Sprint victor Brad Hill Billy.

Uno Suzie has seen The Meadows before, having placed once in two visits there earlier this year.

Jason Fletcher’s hot pair Fantastic Spiral and Fantastic Dotty are also among the possible starters for the race.
 
Fantastic Spiral won the recent Group 1 Dapto">Dapto Megastar, while Fantastic Dotty scored two track records on her first two starts at Dapto recently.

She is currently recovering from a shoulder injury that ruled her out of last Monday’s Group 3 Nowra Spring Puppy Classic heats.

Bessy Boo (pictured) and Smart Missile, winner of the recent Speed Star at Sandown Park, will also represent NSW.

Fernando Bale, who will aim for a remarkable 10th Group title of the year in Thursday night’s heats of the Group 1 Adelaide Cup, is also among the invitees.

Kennelmates Dyna Double One and Elfen Bale and star Queenslander Keybow are also included in the initial

NSW duo Zipping Maggie and Lithgow Panther are among the 16-strong provisional list for the Group 2 Topgun Stayers Cup (725m).

The $75,000-to-the-winner race takes place on the same night.

The Topgun panel will meet on Sunday, October 11 to cut both fields down to eight from the list of trainers who accept first round invitations.

The final field will then be announced on Sky Racing 2’s The Catching Pen on Tuesday, October 13, at 6.30pm.
