Jamaica The Fun The Hot Pick At Mandurah

By Stuart Turner

Lexia Isaac is confident Jamaica The Fun can continue her recent strong form in tonight’s third of six heats of the $25,000-to-the-winner Group 3 Mandurah Cup (490m).

The consistent greyhound enjoyed a solid return to Mandurah last week after a commendable trip interstate to Angle Park for the Group 3 SA Oaks series.

Jamaica The Fun finished third in the final behind winner Elfen Bale before returning home and finishing second over the 490m at Mandurah last Saturday behind Stangafied in a decent 27.62.

Trainer Isaac, who has enjoyed a super year with the likes of Jamiaca The Fun and hot kennelmate Fun Boss, believes her greyhound can win here with a good start.

“She was a bit unlucky in the (SA) Oaks Final,” she said. “She wouldn’t have won it, but she could have finished second if she hadn’t tied up towards the end.

“She’s a good honest chaser (and) this box won’t hurt her as she’s usually a good little beginner.

“If she doesn’t lead tonight then it will be hard but in her current form, you have to be confident.”

The daughter of Kinloch Brae and Alotta Fun has been a solid competitor since debuting in January 2015, with her current career record standing at eight wins and 13 minor placings from 29 starts.

She has placed once in two previous starts from box three and ran a strong 29.50 here last month.

This is a very even race but on current form Jamaica The Fun looks hard to ignore.
