Fernando Bale Aims For Adelaide Cup

By Stuart Turner

Fernando Bale heads the list of nominations for this Thursday’s Group 1 Classic Triple M Adelaide Cup (515m).

The superstar Victorian (pictured), who is searching for a remarkable 10th Group title of 2015, jumps from box three in the fifth and final heat at Angle Park.

This will be a first competitive race for ‘flying Fernando’ since his latest brilliant victory in the recent Group 2 Traralgon Cup.

He has never previously raced at the SA track but has a super record from this draw, with four wins and a placing from six starts.

This is a quality heat, with the opposition including Victorian Weblec Belle (box four) and star locals Blurred Lines and It's Classified in boxes six and eight respectively.

Weblec Belle won the Group 3 Brian Johnstone at Angle Park last year and is still racing well, with four wins and three minor placings from her last 10 starts.

Fernando Bale’s litter sister and double Group winner Elfen Bale jumps from box seven in a high-quality third heat.

Elfen Bale returns to Angle Park fresh from her recent victory in the Group 3 SA Oaks decider at Angle Park.

Star Victorians Shared Equity (box two) and Kayda Shae (box six), winner of this year’s Group 2 Cyril Rowe Bulli Gold Cup, also feature in this heat.

Among the other eye-catching contenders in the heats include Fever Pitch, who jumps from his favourite box eight in the second heat.

Rinaldo Divirgilio’s greyhound won the recent Group 3 SA Derby  in terrific fashion and has a perfect five wins from five wearing the pink rug.

A decent value chance in the series could be Scarp Missile, who jumps from box six in the first heat.

Trevor Jessup’s greyhound has hit great form in recent weeks, scoring two sub-30 second victories at Angle Park in his last two starts.

He is also handy wearing the green rug, with two wins and a placing from his four previous starts from six.

Scarp Missile will face Fernando Bale’s kennelmate Dyna Double One (box eight), who ran a scorching 29.30 at Angle Park earlier this month, in his heat.
