GRNSW Announces Uniting Cargo Inquiry

By GRNSW

Greyhound Racing NSW (GRNSW) advises that it has received notification from the Australian Racing Forensic Laboratory of the presence of Caffeine, Theobromine, Theophylline and Paraxanthine in the sample taken from Uniting Cargo after it won the Bathurst to Wenty Final at the Wentworth Park meeting on 15 July 2015.

The reserve portion of the sample was sent to Racing Science Centre (QLD) and has been confirmed to contain the prohibited substance. Uniting Cargo's trainer Ronald Steel has been advised of the irregularity.

Despite the prohibited substances being Category 4 substances under the GRNSW’s penalty guidelines, due to the number of samples from the respective trainer being found to have contained the prohibited substances it has been determined that the matter be dealt with by way of an Inquiry before GRNSW Stewards.

A date for the Inquiry has yet to be set.
