Silent Crash Aims For Another Nowra Win

By Stuart Turner

Silent Crash loves visiting Nowra and owner-trainer George Micallef is confident his greyhound can score yet another win at the Shoalhaven track today.

The son of Cosmic Rumble and Silent Rapid jumps from box five in the Classicbet.com.au Best Eight Stakes (365m, race five) aiming for an eighth win in 10 visits to the track.

Silent Crash ran 20.26 here in July – just 0.02 outside Hesa Felon’s track record – and is a consistent performer, with 11 wins and 16 minor placings from 38 starts to his name.

He has scored one win and three minor placings from five previous starts with the yellow rug.

“He was broken in at Nowra and he loves going back there,” Micallef said.

“He’s just used to it there and enjoys the place. He ran terrific over the 520m two starts back at Dapto but got beaten on the post.

"The 500 is a bit much for him, but he’s very suited to this distance.

“He’s won from box five at Nowra before and he’s capable of running the first sectional he needs. If he gets a clear run then he should get the win.”

Silent Crash scored a hat-trick of wins at Nowra during July and August – all over the 365m.

He won here on August 17, defeating a strong field in 20.54.

Gin Blossum (box two) will likely lead but in current form Silent Crash should have too much for the rest here.

In other action at Nowra, Judith Fisher has enjoyed a strong year and she could score another win with Good Judge (box two) in race seven over the 365m.

He has won three of his four previous visits to Nowra and loves this draw, with three victories from five previous starts from box two.

Tiggerlong Scar (box four) scored a terrific first win at Goulburn last start over the 350m and in that form looks the pick in race six.

Newcomer Space And Time ran a decent second at Nowra last week and could go one better in race nine (520m).

Phil Goodsell’s greyhound (box seven) also secured a placing over the 520m in a recent Group 3 Dapto Maiden Classic heat and should have enough pace to find the lead.
