GRNSW Announces Cosmic Tyson Inquiry

By GRNSW

Greyhound Racing NSW (GRNSW) advises that it has received notification from the Australian Racing Forensic Laboratory of the presence of Strychnine in the sample taken from Cosmic Tyson after it won the Kevin Waters Towing Maiden Heat at the Richmond meeting on 1 July 2015.

The reserve portion of the sample was sent to Racing Science Centre (QLD) and has been confirmed to contain the prohibited substance. Cosmic Tyson's trainer Andrew Crouch has been advised of the irregularity.

As the prohibited substance detected is a Category 4 substance under the GRNSW’s penalty guidelines the matter will be dealt with having regard to the protocols established under the guidelines.

GRNSW will provide further details once Mr Crouch has had an opportunity to make submissions regarding the irregularity of the sample.
