GRNSW Announces Betsie Cargo Inquiry

By GRNSW

Greyhound Racing NSW (GRNSW) advises that it has received notification from the Australian Racing Forensic Laboratory of the presence of caffeine, theobromine, theophylline and paraxanthine in the sample taken from Betsie Cargo after it won the Bathurst RSL Club Sprint Series Final at the Bathurst meeting on 22 June 2015.

The reserve portion of the sample was sent to Racing Science Centre (QLD) and has been confirmed to contain the prohibited substance. Betsie Cargo's trainer Ronald Steel has been advised of the irregularity.

Despite the prohibited substance being a Category 4 substance under the GRNSW’s penalty guidelines, due to the circumstances of the matter it has been determined that the matter be dealt with by way of an Inquiry before GRNSW Stewards.

A date for the Inquiry has yet to be set.
