Lambley's Success Is A Dun Deal

By Jeff Collerson

Steve Lambley has only four greyhounds in work but in a remarkable training feat he has recently landed doubles at Goulburn on two occasions, another at Bulli and snared a treble at Goulburn.

The hobby trainer's latest  dual winning effort was on Thursday night at Buli when he was successful with Kazmic's Revenge in 26.63 and Dun Ya Dash, also over 472m, in 26.81.

Kazmic's Revenge, rated by Lambley as "far and away'' the quickest in his kennel, has won  five from nine starts.

Dun Ya Dash, who took his record to three wins from five races at Bulli, is by Lambley's former top grader Clark No Ee.

"I'll now head to Wentworth Park with Kazmic's Revenge and he knows his way around the place because he has had three hand-slips on the track,'' Lambley said.

"At his first slip there he went faster than Clark No Ee so  that's encouraging, but I'm not getting carried away. It's a big step from winning races at Goulburn to having success at Wentworth Park.

"The morning following each race I stand each of them in buckets of ice for three to four minutes. That does their joints the world of good.

"I'm rapt to be winning races with Dun Ya Dash because he is from Happy Jan, the only greyhound Clark No Ee ever served.

"Clark No Ee won 21 races for me, including nine at Wentworth Park over both 520m and 720m and he reached top grade over both trips.

"He contested the 2010 Golden Easter Egg and won another couple of races when trained by Lisa McFarlane.

"These days Clark No Ee spends his life in luxury at the Mascot home of Greg Evans, who was one of his part-owners."

Lambley's greyhounds Dun Ya Dash, Kazmic's Revenge and Kazmic's Spirit are in action at Goulburn on Tuesday.

It's A Bird took her record to an impressive seven wins from 11 starts with a powerful finish to score over 590m at Bulli last Thursday night.

But don't expect to see It's A Bird making her Wentworth Park debut over 520m any time soon.

"I intend giving her a couple of 618m races at Richmond and then stepping her straight up to 720m at Wenty,'' trainer Mark Azzopardi said.

"It's A Bird is from the first litter whelped by It's A Blur, who won 16 when I trained her for her owners Tyrone Whittington and Greg Sprod.

"It's A Bird is promising but her litter sister It's A Jett is actually quicker.

"It's A Jett has won two of six starts but tore a chest muscle at her last race on August 16 and is on the way back now.''

It's A Bird and It's A Jett are by Hondo Black, the sire of the great sprinter Hooksy, while their dam It's A Blur's second litter is by Collision.

Nine Tenths, who scored first up at Wentworth Park on Wednesday night for owner Rosita Sinclair and trainer Gary Robertson, turns three in January but is a veteran of only a dozen starts.

Nine Tenths' all-the-way win over 280m at Wentworth Park was his sixth success but a dislocated hock, sustained as a youngster, had delayed the beginning of the dog's career.

"He has not won beyond 400 metres and while his dam, Robbo's Inc, could run 500 metres, I'm in no hurry to find out if Nine Tenths can get that trip,'' Robertson said.

"We are having a lot of fun with him right now racing over 400m at The Gardens and places like that but maybe we will look at taking him further later on.

"Rosita Sinclair's husband Martin named the greyhound after his friend reared the dog on his behalf but then handed him to the Sinclair family when he moved interstate.

"At the time Martin said, "he is mine now and possession is nine tenths of the law", so that's how the dog got his name.''
