GRNSW Announces Fishaholic Inquiry

Greyhound Racing NSW (GRNSW) advises that it has received notification from the Australian Racing Forensic Laboratory of the presence of Meloxicam in the sample taken from Fishaholic after it won the TGRC Staff Appreciation Stakes at the Tamworth meeting on 6 December 2014.

The reserve portion of the sample was sent to Racing Science Centre (QLD) and has been confirmed to contain the prohibited substance. Fishaholic's trainer Mark Taylor has been advised of the irregularity,

As the prohibited substance detected is a Category 5 substance under the GRNSW’s penalty guidelines the matter is being dealt with having regard to the protocols established under the guidelines.

Mr Taylor has entered a guilty plea to a charge under Rule 83 (2) (a) via correspondence for having presented Fishaholic at Tamworth on 6 December 2014. GRNSW Stewards are now considering the submissions of Mr Taylor in relation to penalty and will determine what penalty should be imposed.
