GRNSW Announces Avoca Rock Inquiry

By GRNSW

Greyhound Racing NSW (GRNSW) advises that it has received notification from the Australian Racing Forensic Laboratory of the presence of Diclofenac in the sample taken from Avoca Rock after it won the Magic Sprite @ Stud Maiden Heat at the Richmond meeting on 3 June 2015.

The reserve portion of the sample was sent to Racing Analytical Services (VIC) and has been confirmed to contain the prohibited substance. Avoca Rock's trainer Albert Burns has been advised of the irregularity.

As the prohibited substance detected is a Category 5 substance under the GRNSW’s penalty guidelines the matter will be dealt with having regard to the protocols established under the guidelines.

GRNSW will provide further details once Mr Burns has had an opportunity to make submissions regarding the irregularity of the sample.
