Dimitr The Kennel Pick For Bathurst

By thedogs.com.au

Pamela Braddon believes Dimitr will win the battle of her three kennelmates in today’s feature race at Bathurst - the Bathurst RSL Sprint Final (450m, race four).

Braddon and her husband Paul have Dimitr (box two), Tango’s Express (box four) and Overflo Magic (box eight) all featuring in the race after they qualified in their respective heats last week.

All three are in solid form, with Tango’s Express having won three of his last four and Overflo Magic has registered placings at his past two starts.

But it is Dimitr, who has nine wins and 25 minor placings from his 51 starts, who Braddon thinks is her best chance of winning today.

“Tango is the quicker dog, but Dimitr is smarter,” Braddon said.

“Overflo always seems to find trouble when he’s drawn on the outside because he wants to find the rail. If he just came out and thought, ‘I could round these’, he would do even better.

Dimitr is the more experienced of them all and nearly always runs a place. He’s so consistent. They are all handy chasers, but I would go for the experience with Dimitr here.”

Meanwhile, fresh off winning the Chairman’s Cup on the weekend, Marty Hallinan heads to Bathurst with debutant Zipping Kelsey, who will jump from box six in race two – the Ladbrokes Appreciation Maiden Stakes (450m).

A daughter of 2010 National Sprint Championship winner Smooth Fancy and Agent Gibbs, Zipping Kelsey enjoyed a 26.22 performance trial win at Bathurst last week.

Talking Tongues (box two) has been improving recently with solid runs over the 400m at Richmond but Zipping Kelsey looks the one to watch here.

In other action at Bathurst, super newcomer Irinka Tyson (box two) looks the day’s best bet in race three.

Trainer Ray Smith has scored plenty of success recently with the likes of both Irinka Tyson and Brad Hill Billy and he could be celebrating again today.

Betsie Cargo and Musical Cargo have been star recent performers for Ronnie Steel and both can score wins in races five and eight respectively.
