George Dailly believes it will need something special to defeat the Mario Briganti-trained Angie Rocks in tonight’s Group 3 Coffex Coffee SA Oaks (515m) decider at Angle Park.
Dailly has this year’s Group 3 Evans and Son Jewellers Ladies Bracelet winner Elfen Bale ($4 with Sportsbet) jumping from box three in the $25,000-to-the-winner final but believes he could be running for second place, given Angie Rocks' impressive form of late.
While Elfen Bale is the only Group winner in the field, Angie Rocks (box five, $1.75) was a 29.65 winner in last week’s heats, which was easily the quickest time set in the Oaks series.
Dailly believes Elfen Bale, who ran second behind unfancied heat winner Nit Noi last week, can improve on her debut track run but is not confident his greyhound can claim another Group title.
“I think that might be a bit daft,” he said.
“Angie Rocks is a flying machine. I think she’s got anything up to seven lengths on Elfen Bale.
“Elfen Bale got badly checked in last week’s heats," he said. "She did well to qualify and there’s improvement in her.
Being inside Angie Rocks helps and if she jumps better here she’s certainly got a chance, but realistically it’s a race for Angie Rocks to lose.”
Angie Rocks has been in brilliant form since mid-July, scoring four wins and two minor placings from her last seven starts.

Briganti’s greyhound has had two unsuccessful starts from box five, however, and Elfen Bale does look better drawn here.
Of the rest, Scarp Missile (box two, $5) ran 29.86 behind Angie Rocks last week and looks the next best.
Sacramento Sal (box one), Cosmic Owl (box four), Mrs Bubbles (box six), Nit Noi (box seven) and Jamaica The Fun in box eight complete the field.
A brilliant night’s racing at Angle Park also features four heats of the Group 3 BGC Industrial Cleaning Supplies SA Derby (515m).
