Greyhound Racing New South Wales (GRNSW) advises that it has received notification from the Australian Racing Forensic Laboratory of the presence of Benzydamine in the sample taken from On The Froth after it won the Unibet Stayers Stakes at the Casino meeting on 13 March 2015.
The reserve portion of the sample was sent to Racing Analytical Services (VIC) and has been confirmed to contain the prohibited substance. On The Froth's trainer Anthony Hoyland has been advised of the irregularity.
As the prohibited substance detected is a Category 5 substance under the GRNSW’s penalty guidelines the matter is being dealt with having regard to the protocols established under the guidelines.
Mr Hoyland has entered a guilty plea to a charge under Rule 83 (2) (a) via correspondence for having presented On The Froth at Casino on 13 March 2015. GRNSW Stewards are now considering the submissions of Mr Hoyland in relation to penalty and will determine what penalty should be imposed.
