GRNSW Announces Celestial Prince Inquiry

Greyhound Racing New South Wales (GRNSW) advises that it has received notification from the Australian Racing Forensic Laboratory of the presence of Atenolol in the sample taken from Celestial Prince after it won the www.bookies.com.au Maiden at the Goulburn meeting on 10 March 2015.

The reserve portion of the sample was sent to Racing Science Centre (QLD) and has been confirmed to contain the prohibited substance. Celestial Prince's trainer Subawa Ngurah has been advised of the irregularity,

As the prohibited substance detected is a Category 5 substance under the GRNSW’s penalty guidelines the matter is being dealt with having regard to the protocols established under the guidelines.

Mr Ngurah has entered a guilty plea to a charge under Rule 83 (2) (a) via correspondence for having presented Celestial Prince at Goulburn on 10 March 2015. GRNSW Stewards are now considering the submissions of Mr Ngurah in relation to penalty and will determine what penalty should be imposed.
