Gold Gun Warrior Can Fire At Nowra

By thedogs.com.au

Trainer Ken Staines heads to Nowra this afternoon full of confidence his greyhound Gold Gun Warrior can score back-to-back wins.

Gold Gun Warrior, who already has Wentworth Park and Dapto victories to his name in his brief career, jumps from box one in a heat of the South Coast Challenge (520m, race eight).

Gold Gun Warrior took his record to four wins and two minor placings from seven starts with a 30.11 victory over the 520m at Nowra last week.

Impressive last start winner Sad Max (box five), trained by Trevor Rice, looks a threat but Staines thinks his greyhound should be in contention here.

“He’s got a chance,” Staines said.

“He’s not a dog that will come from behind so he needs to leave the box well. Sad Max is a good little greyhound (but) mine is the same dog as he was last week in terms of fitness. He’s looking good.

This is a first start with the red rug for Gold Gun Warrior. He ran a textbook race last start from the squeeze box and looks to have formidable pace when he hits the ground.

In other action, the consistent Sweet Razor (box three) looks the pick in race three over the 365m.

A kennelmate of Sad Max, he is knocking on the door for his first victory with six successive placings.

Another from the Trevor Rice-kennel, the dependable My Boy Brodie (box four), looks the day’s best bet in the fifth race over the 630m.

He has one win and four minor placings in five trips over this distance, but with two Wentworth Park victories to his name looks the class act here.

Stilton Blue (pictured), last year’s Group 3 Nowra Summer Puppy Classic winner who enjoyed a super 2014 before injury halted his career, jumps from box five in race four over the 365m.

Phil Goodsell’s greyhound is much better than his last few starts indicates and has a strong record of three wins and a minor placing from five starts wearing the yellow rug, so may be worth considering here.
