Richmond Puppy Auction Nominations Closing Today

By thedogs.com.au

Participants are reminded that nominations for the Richmond Riches Puppy Auction close today.

Some brilliantly bred pups have already been nominated for the annual auction, which will be the second held by the western Sydney club.

Pups from a litter by leading sire Collision out of 2013 NSW Greyhound of the Year Double Twist will be available to purchase, as well as several other possible future champions of the track.

Richmond Race Club General Manager Wayne Billett said the auction, which takes place on Sunday, November 29 and will be sponsored by Globe Memorial, was shaping up well.

“The nominations are starting to roll in,” he said.

“The quality of the nominations so far has been exceptional, which is great for the club. We are on track with all the plans and we are confident it will be a success.”

Among the other eye-catching lots on offer this year will be pups by Magic Sprite, who has sired notable greyhounds such as Black Magic Opal, Far West Leader and Clockwise.

Among the first lots to be nominated for this year's event was a litter of pups by Collision out of Glama Pak, a full sister to Double Twist.

Both Glama Pak and Double Twist were daughters of Where's Tifi, the 2013 NSW Brood Bitch of the Year.

Last year’s inaugural Richmond Riches Puppy Auction proved hugely popular, with 325 pups auctioned at an average price of $4,370 per lot and a gross yield of $1,420,500 collected.

A pup by Where’s Pedro out of Unfinished attracted the highest fee, selling to a Queensland-based purchaser for $30,000.

Greyhounds sold at the 2015 auction will be eligible for the 2017 Richmond Riches, a series featuring more than $200,000 in prizemoney.

The series will include a ‘Triple Crown’ of events over the 400m, 535m and 618m distances.

This year’s auction takes place at the Londonderry Road track and will once again be broadcast on Sky Racing 2 throughout the day.
