Azzopardi Is One To Watch At Bulli

Anthony Azzopardi could continue his kennel’s great run of form at Bulli tonight, with the Londonderry trainer preparing three winning hopes on the 10-race card.

Azzopardi landed the Group 2 Black Top at Unibet Gardens last week with Uno Suzie, and makes the trip to Bulli with Kevin In Bangkok looking the night’s best bet in race seven (472m).

The lightly-raced Kevin In Bangkok has shown good early speed in recent races so should be suited to his draw in box one tonight.

Two of Azzopardi’s newcomers, Asa Viper and Asa Killer Queen, also look strong chances in races four and six respectively.

Asa Viper was slightly disappointing finishing fifth at Bathurst last start, after an impressive debut win at Canberra but can bounce back in the 515m event at Bulli tonight.

Asa Killer Queen, who jumps from box eight in race five, looks a potential star for Azzopardi.

The son of Kinloch Brae and Cawbourne Shine has won five of his seven starts so far, including a terrific 22.69 here last week

He has run well from wide draws so far and looks to have the pace to cut across and lead these.

Aside from Azzopardi’s hopefuls, Expressive (box five) looks a decent winning chance in race 10.

Craig Chappelow’s greyhound, a son of legendary Brett Lee and Surpassing, saluted in a time of 22.61 at his second start last week at Bulli.

“He’s obviously vulnerable from box five but the good thing is he runs straight,” Chappelow said.   “I’d love to see him from box one, but he can win from here.

“Provided he doesn’t get wiped out in the run to the first corner, he should have the room he needs.

“He’s a big greyhound – 36 or 37 kilos – and he seems to like the big long straights at Bulli.

“He certainly has the breeding to do well (and) I’m hoping we can move him through the 500 metres at Richmond and Wentworth Park later on.”

Another newcomer, He’s Some Love (box one), looks one of the night’s best bet in race two.

Mark Azzopardi’s greyhound ran 22.81 while finishing second to Expressive here last week but has also run a 22.53 performance trial here.
