Camden Valleyway Looking Good For SA Oaks

By thedogs.com.au

Camden owner-trainer Doug Rogers believes his exciting NSW star Camden Valleyway is drawn to feature in a Heat of Thursday night’s Group 3 Coffex Coffee SA Oaks (515m) at Angle Park.

Camden Valleyway, who has won nine from 13 career starts, will jump from box seven in the first of four Heats.

In her Heat, Camden Valleyway faces Elfen Bale (box three), the litter sister of Fernando Bale and winner of this year’s Group 3 Evans And Son Jewellers Ladies Bracelet at Wentworth Park.

Rogers’ greyhound trialled well in 30.12 at Angle Park last week and with two victories from two starts from box seven, Rogers believes she is in with a bold showing on Thursday.

“I like her starting out wide because she has the room to move,” he said. “That suits her.

“Her trial time would win her a lot of races down there and the locals I know said I should be happy with (how she went).

“I’ve bred a lot of greyhounds that have gone well at Angle Park in past years and I think she’s got the ability to do well there.”

Elfen Bale, meanwhile, has been running solidly recently in strong company, with one win and three minor placings in her last seven starts.

She has never raced at Angle Park but is the only Group winner in this race and looks a strong contender for the series.

Heat two looks very even, with Miss Suzie Que (box two) one to watch.

The daughter of Magic Sprite and Audacious Elle has won four out of four from box two and has been running solidly in Victoria, scoring seven wins and four minor placings from her 18 starts.

Another Victorian, Angie Rocks (box one), looks tough to stop in the third Heat.

The daughter of Kinloch Brae and Punk Rock Lass ran a terrific 29.40 over the 515m at Sandown Park on August 13.

She is also in great form with three wins and two minor placings from her last six starts.

Series bolter could be Mepunga Rosie, who jumps from box three in Heat three.

Jeff Britton’s greyhound has been running well over the 715m at Sandown Park recently but has produced some strong performances this year over the 500m.

The Jeff Britton-trained Cosmic Owl (box one) is unpredictable but worth considering in Heat four.

Cosmic Owl has been up in distance in recent runs but has strong previous form over the 515m races.

Meanwhile, gun Victorian greyhound Dyna Double One makes his Angle Park debut in race seven (box two).

The Andrea Dailly-trained greyhound is unbeaten in three previous starts from box two, and was most recently placed in last Friday’s Group 3 Cranbourne Puppy Classic.
