Cobber In Motion Looking A Hot Pick

By Jeff Collerson

Cobber In Motion was a certainty beaten at Wentworth Park last Wednesday night but a favourable draw should allow him to break through for his first city win there on Wednesday night.

The greyhound,  who has been placed in three of four Wentworth Park races, jumps from box two in the night's opening race, the Brian Treloar Appreciation Stakes (520m).

Cobber In Motion missed the jump from box five last week and after being hampered at the first turn was flattened going through the catching pen.

His performance to finish third to Irish Gangsta was among the stand-out efforts on any track last week and he will relish having box two on Wednesday.

"He had a sprint along the beach on Monday and looks perfect,'' Kempsey-based trainer Nathan Goodwin said.

"Cobber In Motion has finally drawn a good box and he is cherry ripe for this race.

"Although he had won six races before last week I think his third at Wenty on Wednesday was the best run of his career.

"I believe he only needs to get through the first corner safely to win this time.''

Paua Explosion has not raced for five months but is ready to score a first-up win in Wednesday night's Mark Grima Appreciation Stakes.

The greyhound has box five but runs straight to the first corner and boasts the impressive record of three wins and four placings from 11 Wentworth Park starts.

"She hurt herself when I trialled her at Albion Park in April and then came in season so it has been a long haul getting her back,'' trainer Steve White said.

"But this week's race does not appear overly strong and she is fit enough, she is going well again.''

Privacy met with an unexpected setback before he began racing but that is now behind and the Garry Williams-trained sprinter looks set to score his second Wentworth Park win in three appearances (race six).

Privacy is well positioned close to the rails in box two and Williams reports the dog "pulled up well'' after his last start win in a sizzling 29.70 at Dapto last Thursday night.

"Although he was whelped in March 2013, Privacy has had only six starts because in his performance trial at Goulburn he went straight through the catching pen and finished up covering 700 metres,'' Williams said.

"After that he developed a bad case of acidosis and I had so much trouble with him the only answer was to give him a good spell.

"But now he is fine and I like the way he is drawn on Wednesday.''

Former Victorian Quarterback makes his track debut in heat two of the Ladbrokes Series after finishing a luckless second to Nangar Flame at Bulli on Friday night.

"He has had a look at Wenty in a trial but has not been out of the starting boxes,'' trainer Mark Azzopardi said.

"Quarterback can run a bit but probably needs some luck coming out of box six.''

Full Of Wind looms as Quarterback's main rival as he likes to race in the centre of the track and will relish having a vacant trap outside his box four draw.

Magic Spring, Pierro Kade and Black Bear Lee (pictured) line up for what should be an absorbing tussle in the Rapidvite Free For All while trainer Kristy Sultana looks set to land a winning Wednesday double with Huckleberry and Morish.

Huckleberry is well drawn in box seven in heat four of the Ladbrokes while Morish stands out as the bet of the night, despite drawing box four in heat five.
