Black Top Prep For Are Jai Que

By Stuart Turner

Are Jai Que will have a crucial look at the Unibet Gardens track this afternoon before a likely tilt at the heats of the Group 2 Woy Woy Poultry Black Top.

The Michael Clayton-trained greyhound makes her debut at the Newcastle track in race six (515m) and a good showing will no doubt see her line up in next week’s feature series.

The daughter of El Grand Senor and From Somewhere has built a super record since debuting in July last year, scoring 19 wins and eight minor placings from 29 starts.

She scored her latest win two starts back with a brilliant 29.78 win at Dapto">Dapto and Clayton believes she can win despite this afternoon being her first start at the track.

"If she can 29.78 setting the pace at Dapto, she is going to be awfully hard to catch over 515m at the Gardens," he said.

"She's done well so far but I honestly think there's more improvement yet left in her."

Are Jai Que’s last run was a second-place finish at Wentworth Park on August 1 behind in-form Miner's Moss.

She will jump from box eight this afternoon, a draw from which she has two wins from three career starts.

Meanwhile, in other action at Unibet Gardens today, last year’s Group 3 Laurie Healion winner Lightest Touch and Pass Lee, who impressed in this year’s edition, look strong chances in races seven and eight respectively.

Handy newcomers Kakarot (race three) and Lulu’s Boy in race four both look good to salute.
